About the Chokoloskee Area
Chokoloskee is a remote fishing island in Southwest Florida, just south of Everglades City and is one of North America’s unsung wild places. Hidden in Ten Thousand Islands, a fisherman could spend his entire life here and never know all the waters. It is truly an angling nirvana.
Mangrove islands, grass flats and oyster bars that border the Gulf of Mexico provide a wonderful habitat for exciting game fish, particularly the big three of shallow water sport fishing: Snook, Tarpon and Redfish. All three like to swim around grasses and oyster bars in water so shallow you’ll often see their dorsal fin and tail out of the water. Several passes and rivers lead into hundreds of square miles of remote backcountry that can be fished in almost any weather all through the year. This is wild country. For most anglers, Chokoloskee provides a fishing experience like no other.
